Secret unveils fruits of a decade of research, Derma+ deodorant

THE WHAT? P&G-owned Secret has unveiled its first clinical-level sweat and odor protection with skin conditioners and soft-touch applicator, DERMA+ Antiperspirant. The skin-care adjacent antiperspirant is said to help promote visibly even skin tone, a key concern for women of color.

THE DETAILS Designed with female dermatologists and a decade in the making, the product promises to address underarm shave irritation and contains ProVitamin B5 as well as vitamin C, coconut oil and aloe across its four variants. The deodorant boasts first-of-its-kind packaging too, says P&G, with a squeeze tube designed to minimize friction points against the skin.

“Visibly healthier, smoother underarm skin is at the heart of Secret DERMA+ Antiperspirant’s innovation,” said Nilima Shenai, Senior Director, Global Antiperspirants & Deodorants R&D at Procter & Gamble. “In collaboration with female dermatologists, our team designed a new formula and a new application and usage experience that addresses women’s underarm skin care needs while still delivering the superior sweat and odor protection women have come to expect from Secret.”

THE WHY? Dr. Maiysha Jones, Senior Scientist at Procter & Gamble explains, “We talked to hundreds of women of color who also want a solution for underarm skin discoloration. Secret DERMA+ Antiperspirant provides clinical-level sweat and odor protection, it was designed to visibly improve skin health, and it helps promote visibly even skin tone.”
