Sephora appeals to Chinese shoppers with WeChat program, Z Tao as brand ambassador and concept store

Sephora has named Chinese singer Z Tao as brand ambassador as it prepares to launch its first concept store for Asia in Shanghai, according to a report published by China.org.cn.

The announcement was made at a press conference in Shanghai where the LVMH-retailer also announced its new brand concept, My Beauty Power Turn It On, which aims to encourage shoppers to celebrate their unique features.

The perfumery chain also unveiled a mini program on China’s most popular social media app WeChat.

“The mini program is an attempt by Sephora to embrace the social culture of China and makes us the first beauty retailer to offer such a comprehensive access to new beauty trends,” Benjamin Vuchot, Sephora President Asia told journalists.

“Through Sephora’s mini program, Chinese consumers can no conveniently discover the latest beauty trends recommended by Sephora. They can also quickly find the nearest stores and also book professional beauty services in their favourite ones,” he added.
