Sephora strengthens diversity with key Asia appointments

THE WHAT? Sephora has promoted Alia Gogi to President of Sephora Asia with immediate effect. Gogi’s appointment, together with the promotions of Sarah Boyd and Maggie Chan further enhances the ‘strong presence of women’ in the LVMH-owned retailer’s senior leadership team.

THE DETAILS Gogi, who until July 1 held the role of SEA Managing Director, will take over from Benjamin Vuchot, who is said to be undertaking a special assignment, with his next role within LVMH to be announced at a later date.

Boyd, meanwhile, currently South East Asia VP of Markets is elevated to Managing Director of South East Asia, reporting to Gogi and Chan, Sephora China Managing Director, will expand her role to include Hong Kong and so take on the role of Sephora Greater China Managing Director.

THE WHY? Chris de Lapuente, Sephora CEO, explained “[Gogi] joined Sephora China as Chief Merchant nine years ago and has been key to transforming our SEA business. She brings to Sephora Asia a wealth of experience acquired from working at Sephora China and Sephora SEA, proven leadership skills, a true passion and intuition for Prestige Beauty products as well as a tremendous hunger for driving the business above and beyond.

“I am extremely proud that all three of these promotions are of women from within Sephora who have been empowered to lead and innovate at a time of great change and challenge. Sarah and Maggie, along with Benjamin, have navigated one storm after another, leading with empathy, passion and commitment even as they have driven the business to record sales and profitability.“
