THE WHAT? Shiseido has announced the candidates for its Directors and Audit & Supervisory Board Members, which will be voted on at its General Meeting of Shareholders in late March 2021.
THE DETAILS Should the movements be approved, retiring Director Yoichi Shimatani will be replaced with Takayuki Yokota.
Representative Directors to be voted on at the meeting of Board of Directors, to be held after the General Meeting of Shareholders, are President and CEO Masahiko Uotani, Yukari Suzuki, Norio Tadawaka and Takayuki Yokota.
THE WHY? Shiseido’s board shake-up follows its recent announcement of a new management system, and comes at a time of introspection across the industry. As the pandemic causes beauty behemoths to look closer at its leadership teams, Shiseido’s transitions at the top could be an indicator of troubled times for the Japanese beauty giant.
