THE WHAT? Shiseido has announced a new management system of Executive Officers as part of its new medium-term strategy, named Win 2023.
THE DETAILS Effective 1st January, 2021, the new management system, which will include the current corporate officers, requires officers to ‘bear responsibility for the company-wide business execution, and appropriate members will be assigned regardless of gender, nationality or organizational boundaries.’
Amongst the new Executive Officers is President and CEO Masahiko Uotani, Chief Brand Officer Yukari Suzuki and Chief Social Value Creation Officer Jun Aoki.
Aoki’s role within the company has been extended by a year past the maximum age limit for the position, with Shiseido stating that ‘there is a strong demand for him to continue to formulate and strongly promote strategies and actions in his areas of responsibility, namely Social Value Creation.’
THE WHY? Shiseido stated it was looking to ‘stronger profitability’ under the new 2023 strategy, with a focus on its ‘diverse values and ideas’ in order to accelerate the structural transformation and reform of its global business.
