Shiseido moves US headquarters to renovated midtown Manhattan property

Japanese beauty company Shiseido has announced the move of its US headquarters to a renovated office in midtown Manhattan.

The company’s move to the new location, situated at 390 Madison Ave, will cost around a $100 per square foot on a 15-year lease, according to Bloomberg, with Shiseido taking up around 225,800 square feet.

The redevelopment of the 1950s block is being overseen by real estate firm L&L Holding Co., with the renovation set to be completed next year. The second company to take space within the building, Shiseido’s head office will enjoy benefits of the building revamp, which include an airier structure, open floors, and large windows.

Shiseido will take up floors 15 through to 22 of the 32 storey building, with the office space offering outdoor terraces and double height amenity spaces, according to a statement by L&L Holding.

Marc Rey, CEO of Shiseido Americas, said, “Our preference was to be Midtown, so this checks the box.”

He continued that the company was searching for something “that was either new or very modern in the way it was remodeled.”
