Shiseido plans new Chinese research facility

THE WHAT? Shiseido has announced plans to establish a new research branch of its China Innovation Center in the Oriental Beauty Valley, an industrial park for the health and beauty industries based near Shanghai.

THE DETAILS The new branch will be a base for advanced research and product development and, in collaboration with other companies and institutes located in the City of China’s Cosmetics, as the park is known, will focus on the development of environmentally friendly products as well as research into utility evaluation methods which suit Chinese consumers’ skin types.  

THE WHY? While others fire-fight, Shiseido is focused on the future of its business. In Asia, where blanket testing and stringent social distancing measures were enforced, it’s returning to business as usual.
