Shiseido is hoping to enter the hallowed halls of the world’s top 5 fragrance producers by 2021, according to a report published by Reuters.
The Japanese cosmetics company currently occupies the seventh spot in global fragrance rankings, and hopes to better this thanks to the recent acquisition of the Dolce & Gabbana license, which saw Shiseido’s market share double overnight from 2.2 percent to 5.8 percent. The group is pushing to increase this to 9 percent in the next five years.
“We want to be in the top five in the five years to come,” Louis Desazars, Shiseido Group Chief Executive for Europe, Middle East and Africa told Reuters. “There is a new energy and mindset in the group.”
