THE WHAT? Shiseido is set to market hand sanitizer to the general public from August, according to a report published by the Japan Times.
THE DETAILS The Japanese beauty behemoth has been supplying hospitals with the medical grade hand hygiene aid for the past three months and is now set to offer 500ml bottles for general consumption via drugstores across Tokyo before a wider rollout across Japan.
Shiseido will also offer refill packs so pumps can be re-used and aims to produce some 100,000 liters a month.
THE WHY? With hand hygiene still key in stemming the spread of COVID-19, hand sanitizer is in high demand in Japan and worldwide with several cosmetics companies pivoting production to cater for requirements.
