German perfumery chain Douglas has signed an agreement to take over some 103 Perfumerias If stores and the accompanying e-commerce site from Spanish retailer Eroski. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Perfumerias If enjoys a strong footprint across Northern Spain, strengthening Douglas’ presence in the country. Together with the German pharmacy chain’s acquisition of Grupo Bodybell earlier in July, the deal will see Douglas become the leading beauty and cosmetics retailer in Spain.
“This acquisition means yet another boost for our market position in this highly attractive region. By integrating the Perfumerias If stores, Douglas will clearly become the new No.1 for beauty and cosmetics in Spain,” said Isabelle Parize, CEO of Douglas. “The store network of Perfumerias If in the economically strong Basque region is an ideal addition to our combined Douglas and Bodybell businesses with virtually no overlap to our existing portfolio.”
The deal is Douglas third major acquisition in as many months, with the German beauty retailer taking over Italian Limoni and La Gardenia earlier this year.
