The South Korean government has pledged to assist the K-beauty camp in growing its presence in the ASEAN market, according to a report published by Yonhap News.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety will run a series of educational programs for manufacturers on customs procedures and product registration.
“The ministry will continue to communicate with make-up companies in order to promote the sustainable development of the industry,” Minister Ryu Young-jin said in a meeting with representatives from local cosmetics companies.
K-beauty exports to ASEAN countries hit US$406 million in 2016, up from US$308 million in 2015. The ASEAN cosmetics market was valued at US$7.3 billion as of 2016, up 8.8 percent on the previous year.
