Beauty brand Sundial has announced the relaunch of a hair care range originally pioneered by America’s first female self-made millionaire, Madam C.J.Walker, which will be launched exclusively into Sephora next month.
The hair care range, named Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture is a prestige line designed specifically for African American hair. The model is based on a range of products the famous female figure originally developed for black women in 1905.
The range will include 25 products from four collections, such as the Jamaican Black Castor & Murumuru Oils Collection, the Brassica Seed & Shea Oils Collection and the Coconut & Moringa Oils Collection. The four collections focus on cleansing, treatment and styling.
Sundial Founder and Chief Executive Richelieu Dennis said, “It is exciting to have this partnership and be able to bring Madam C.J. Walker’s legacy back to life.
“It is . . . true recognition that the marketplace is finally wising up and taking seriously women of color as consumers.”
He continued, “This launch represents another step forward in our rich history and continues Madam C.J. Walker’s legacy to help every woman feel confident to embark on the life she desires.
“It’s also a dream come true not just for us, but for the millions of women who have been touched by the legacy of Madam C.J. Walker and the millions more who will be inspired to reach their own levels of greatness by hearing her story.”
