Taiwan’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that it is to ban estradiol, estrone and ethinyl estradiol from use in cosmetic products on May 1, 2016.
The new law covers the manufacture, sale and supply of cosmetics containing any of the three estrogens, which were classified as Class I carcinogens by the World Health Organization in 2012.
Bans are already in place in the European Union Canada and ASEAN member countries.
