Flavors and fragrance maker Takasago has announced the acquisition of US-based Centre Ingredient Technology (CIT), growing its Natural Material Portfolio.
Details of the acquisition have not been disclosed, however, the move is said to help Takasago become more competitive in the natural ingredients field, says President and CEO of Takasago, Satoshi Masumura.
CIT is a producer of natural flavour and fragrance ingredients using its biotechnology manufacturing processes. The company also supplies specialty ingredients for the cosmetics, food and beverage industries.
It is thought that CIT will become the development center for new natural ingredients.
Masumura said, “Developing unique and superior technologies continues to be a Takasago focus and priority. This is a core strategy of Takasago’s medium term growth plan. With the highly advanced manufacturing technologies and capabilities of CIT and Takasago’s unique and patented fermentation technologies, we expect significant quality, cost and efficiency improvements. The acquisition will also enable Takasago to address the ever increasing consumer demands for natural ingredients and to become a key player in the Natural Ingredients arena.”
