Target creates badge to help identify black-owned beauty

THE WHAT? Target has created a new symbol to help shoppers identify black-owned brands, according to a report published by Nylon.

THE DETAILS The badge will be displayed on the US retailer’s website, alongside other popular filters, such as vegan, cruelty free and clean beauty.

The symbol features five hearts in different shades of brown and beige and thus far features on just three brands on the site: The Lip Bar, Alikay Naturals, and SheaMoisture, Nylon reports.

THE WHY? Following the black lives matter protests many have been showing their support for the cause by seeking out black-owned businesses and voting with their wallets. This initiative will make it easier for shoppers to do this, as well as help Target to address its limited provision.
