The Body Shop is set to expand further in the Indian market with 20 new store openings planned for 2019, according to Retail News Asia.
Looking to capitalize on the huge upsurge in consumers seeking healthier products, The Body Shop will develop its offering within the region, with India being one of the company’s largest markets.
Vishal Chaturvedi, The Body Shop General Manager Retail – India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh – told the website, “We shall be opening 20 more stores this year in 2019, establishing our footprint in new cities to make ourselves even more accessible to new customers.
“Apart from physical presence, we have a very strong online presence. E-commerce is our fastest channel of reaching 600+ cities and towns adding almost 30,000 customers to The Body Shop family every year. Our e-commerce business contributes to 10 percent of our business. We are expecting to grow by 12 percent.”
Popular in the larger cities of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai, The Body Shop has gained a large following in Tier II cities such as Siliguri, Jammu, Aurangabad, Patna, Nasik, Mysore and Calicut.
