THE WHAT? The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) and its corporate foundation, The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation (ELCCF), have announced a series of support packages in a bid to help in the fight against the coronavirus.
THE DETAILS Looking to support ‘the well-being of our communities’, ELC has announced a $2 million grant to Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to support its work around the world and its response to coronavirus in under-resourced and highly impacted countries.
A grant was also provided to support the establishment of The NYC COVID-19 Response & Impact Fund, administered by the New York Community Trust, while in China over $800,000 was pledged to charities Red Cross Society of China, Shanghai Charity Foundation and Give2Asia.
The company also donated $1.4 million worth of in-kind donations to the China Women’s Development Foundation to support front line medical staff.
THE WHY? According to a press release, the company aims to “stand with the global community to help limit the spread of the virus and ease the related economic hardships communities in which we live and work.”
Hinting at further support going forward, the press release said, “As the COVID-19 crisis evolves, ELC will continue to align its philanthropic resources based on emerging needs, prioritizing food, medical and emergency assistance.”
