The Estée Lauder Companies winds down Rodin Olio Lusso operations

THE WHAT? The Estée Lauder Companies has announced it is to wind down operations of skin care brand Rodin Olio Lusso, according to a report by WWD.com.

THE DETAILS Having originally acquired the brand in 2014 from model and stylist Linda Rodin, a spokesperson for the company stated that it would now close e-commerce operations on 19thApril, while retail partners will continue to sell current inventory but will not restock.

The brand is set to release a capsule collection under Jo Malone in October this year, with some product formulations lauded to migrate and be produced under the brand going forwards.

THE WHY? The winding down of the skin care brand follows a period of introspection for the beauty giant as a result of the pandemic, and follows the 2020 announcement that it will close make-up brand Becca, with the make-up brand officially closing in September this year.

Skin care brands such as Dr. Jart + and Deciem have bucked the trend, reporting growth, and remain on the ELC brand portfolio.
