The pressure is on: Pampers, Tide and Gillette hold key to 2017 growth for P&G

Whether Procter & Gamble’s can realize the growth forecast for 2017 depends on the performance of three of its brands, according to a report published by Fox Business.

Writing for fool.com, Demitrios Kalogeropoulos opined, “While the consumer goods titan would love for its entire portfolio to post market-thumping growth, the Pampers, Tide and Gillette brands will likely play the biggest roles in whether P&G’s sales rebound gains momentum – or falls flat.”

According to the report, P&G will invest significantly in advertising to boost its flayling baby care category, and double the sampling activity for its Tide brand in a bid to see off competition from Henkel following the German FMCG manufacturer’s acquisition of Sun Products.

Competition is set to be intense in the grooming sector too, with Unilever’s recent purchase of the Dollar Shave Club, so P&G will be working on its value offer, as well as its online presence, particularly e-commerce.
