UK Parliament to debate North East Coty factory closure

UK Parliament to debate North East Coty factory closure

Following a successful application by local MP Ronnie Campbell, the UK Parliament has scheduled an adjournment debate to discuss the future of Coty’s Seaton Delaval plant in the North East of England, according to a report published by Chronicle Live.

Coty announced the Northumberland plant’s planned closure last week. If it goes ahead, some 400 jobs will be at stake.

“The idea is that the government will be forced to get in touch with Coty to try and find out exactly why they are closing the Delaval plant,” Local Councillor Bernard Pidcock told Chronicle Live. “It will make the Coty organization give us information which we can then challenge – their information may be wrong.”
