THE WHAT? UK health and beauty retailer Boots has started a trial with delivery service Deliveroo, which will see 14 stores in areas such as Edinburgh, Nottingham, Birmingham and London take part in a pilot scheme to allow consumers to purchase items for delivery.
THE DETAILS Items available to purchase include make-up, toiletries, medicine, baby products and snacks, with the company said to be focused on products for parents and unwell customers who may not be able to leave the home.
Should the scheme be successful, Boots will become one of the largest non-food retailers to partner with Deliveroo.
THE WHY? An extension of Boots’ growing online business, the new pilot scheme also highlights Deliveroo’s aim to expand post the takeaway food market, with the Boots products aiming to be delivered within 20 minutes of ordering.
Paula Bobbett, Director of boots.com at Boots UK, said, “It will be super handy for times when you need something urgently but can’t leave the house, like if you’re feeling unwell or are looking after your kids.
“Our online business continues to grow and this partnership offers our customers way to access our products quickly and easily.”
Carlo Mocci, Chief Business Officer for Deliveroo in the UK and Ireland, continued, “This partnership will mean more choice and selection for our consumers, delivered in as little as 20 minutes, and will create more work for riders across the UK.”
