Undercover Colors develops nail polish capable of detecting date rape drugs

A beauty start-up formed by four engineering students has designed a nail polish that is capable of detecting the presence of certain date rape drugs.

Wearers of the polish can simply dip a painted nail into their drink and watch for any change in color. The polish will change shade if the drink has been spiked with certain drugs, including Xanax, Rohypnol and GHB.

The company has attracted an investment of £5.5 million, according to a report published by MTV News, which it intends to use to commercialize the technology.
