Unilever Indonesia was declared the overall winner for Indonesia in the Sustainable Business Awards.
“From sourcing of raw materials, through production, to sales, Unilever has consistently increased its efforts year-on-year to adapt its supply chain towards an increasingly sustainable production,” said the Sustainable Business Awards in a statement. “It was also recognized for the proven track record for the concept of ‘purpose-driven’ brands that must not only have a clear purpose that contributes to a social or environmental concern, but the product itself must also contribute to Unilever’s sustainable initiative targets.”
The overall winner is determined by a panel of cross-industry experts, who grade companies based on a series of interviews designed to rate their environmental and social management strategies and CSR commitments. Unilever also took the top spot in two further individual awards, including Best Business Responsibility and Ethics and Best Stakeholder Engagement.
