Effective October 31, 2015, Ehsan Malik will retire as Chief Executive Officer after 24 years of service and will be replaced by Shazia Syed, Unilever Sri Lanka Chairperson.
Syed has been with the company for 26 years and has worked across most categories within the company. Having joined Unilever in 1989 as a managment trainee, Syed has also been the Vice-President of Customer Development Unilever Pakistan.
During her time at Unilever Sri Lanka she has set the business on a growth trajectory and is hoped to do the same for Unilever Pakistan. However, there’s little doubt she has big shoes to fill. Under Malik, Unilever Pakistan grew four times in size.
The Pakistan arm of the personal care giant began in 1948 and has since been connected to consumers in the country, according to a company statement.
