Unilever to acquire Quala personal care portfolio

Unilever has announced that it has signed an agreement to buy several personal and home care brands from Latin American firm Quala for an undisclosed sum.

Quala’s personal care portfolio includes leading hair care and skin care brands Savital and Savilé, men’s grooming marque eGo, Bio-Expert (hair care), oral care line Fortident and a range of fabric conditioners known as Aromatel. Their combined turnover totalled US$400 million in 2016.

“We are delighted to be acquiring Quala’s personal care and home care portfolio. Quala has done an outstanding job of building strong and competitive local brands. The inclusion of these brands in our stable will consolidate our leading position in hair care globally, and contribute to our oral care and male grooming businesses, complementing very well our existing offering,” said Unilever CEO Paul Polman.

Added Miguel Kozuszok, Executive Vice President Unilever Latin America, “Quala’s brands will give us an even sounder footing in Latin America, broadening our offering in Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador.”
