Unilever has made it into the number one spot for Gartner’s Supply Chain Top 25 ranking for the first time.
The annual list identifies companies that best exemplify the demand-driven ideal for today’s supply chain and document their best practices, and is now in its 12th year.
Several cosmetics companies made the grade this year, with chemical supplier BASF appearing in the top 25 for the first time, occupying 20th position, while GlaxoSmithKline was welcomed back into the fold at number 23. Colgate-Palmolive was ranked 13 (down from 9 in 2015), L’Oréal named in 19th position (up from 22 in 2015) and Johnson & Johnson stayed put in the 21st spot.
Procter & Gamble was classified among Gartner’s separate Masters category, which recognises supply chain leadership over the last 10 years.
