US judge grants Olaplex injunction against L’Oréal

Olaplex has been granted a preliminary injunction in an ongoing patent battle against French beauty giant L’Oréal, according to a report published by the World Intellectual Property Review.

The hair care Indie has charged L’Oréal with infringing its patent for ‘keratin treatment formulations and methods’, an accusation which the owner of Lancôme and Garnier denies.

The Delaware district judge found for Olaplex, who argued that it had a reasonable likelihood of success in its infringement case and agreed that the hair care Indie had proven that it would suffer ‘actual monetary harm and reputational harm’ if an injunction was not granted.
