Walgreens Boots Alliance on the hunt for marcomms partner

THE WHAT? Walgreens Boots Alliance has launched a global RFP (request for proposal) process in order to find a marketing and communications agency, according to a report published by PR Week.

THE DETAILS The drugstore giant is said to have a budget of US$250 million to US$300 million and revealed that the search for a new partner was part of a broader digital transformation.

“Consumer behaviour and needs are changing rapidly, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic,” a spokesperson for the retailer told PR Week.

Incumbent agency WPP has been invited to pitch, with the final decision due by the end of the year.

THE WHY? WBA’s three-year contract with WPP is coming to a close and with consumer behaviour changing rapidly in the wake of the GVC, the pharmacy giant will need to ensure its partner has the skillset to respond rapidly.
