Walgreens continues to roll out Boots products in US stores

US retail giant Walgreen has announced plans to continue rolling out UK-made Boots products in more of its North America stores, beginning this summer.

The move comes following the merger of the two companies to form Walgreens Boots Alliance and will focus on the successful No7 and Soap and Glory brands, promoting them in 2000 of its 8000 US stores.

The news will also help secure the future of the Nottingham-based factory which manufactures the products.

According to Walgreens Boots Alliance, the first quarter financial performance was largely positive, with the click and collect service driving sales.

George Fairweather, Walgreen Boots Alliance’s Global Chief Finance Officer, said, “Since the quarter end, December performance has been encouraging. Boots UK’s retail sales growth was higher than in the first quarter due to strong online performance. Sales of our exclusive range of seasonal gifts were particularly good.”

Other factors to boost sales included the strong UK sales of Liz Earle and No7, with cosmetics said to be the best performing retail category in its UK stores.
