Website allowing visitors to book beauty services launches in Brazil

Rocket Internet, the leading internet platform outside the US and China, has backed a new website which allows customers in Brazil to book services with local beauty and wellness professionals.

Visitors to the site, which is called Vaniday, can book mobile hairdressers, makeup and nail artists, waxing professionals, beauticians, tattoo artists, massage therapists, personal trainers, or yoga instructors.

Vaniday is similar to US apps such as GlamSquad, The Stylisted and Madison Reed. A Vaniday app for iOS and Android is “coming soon.”

Maxime Legardez, CEO and Founder of Vaniday, commented, “At Vaniday, our ambition is to connect anyone with the beauty and wellness services they need, whenever and wherever our customers demand it – whether at the hair salon, their home or their office. We make it possible to get beauty and wellness services delivered as easily as you can book a hotel, buy a plane ticket, or get a taxi to your door.”

According to Euromonitor 2013, Brazil represents 58% of the Latin American beauty and personal care market. Furthermore, data collected by internet analytics firm commScore, found that consumers in Brazil spend more than 27 hours per month online using a desktop computer, higher than the global average of 24.7 hours per month. Furthermore 23.3 percent of Brazilians use their phones to access the internet.

The tech-savvy nature of consumers in Brazil could bode well for start-ups like Vaniday.

As well as providing a valuable service to customers, Vaniday hopes to give beauty professionals an opportunity for greater exposure.

“We give professionals who sign up for the service the tools to put themselves on the map, stand out, and grow,” says Legardez.
