THE WHAT? Depop has announced an intensive two-year sustainability plan that aims to set up a ‘new fashion system’. The clothing resale platform has pledged to become climate neutral by the end of the year.
THE DETAILS The platform also promised to usher in a systematic preference for circular or responsibly made fashion for all brand collaborations from this point forward and vowed to provide educational resources and mentorship opportunities to help small businesses from underrepresented groups grow their business sustainably.
THE WHY? The resale site said in a statement, “Fashion is a global language… It’s time to make this language more than it has been. To let go of what isn’t working and create something with more vibrance, more opportunities, more hope, more care – something that reflects the way we want to value each other and our home.”
