Will GSK snap up Pfizer’s consumer health division?

GlaxoSmithKline is rumored to be considering a purchase of Pfizer’s consumer health division, according to a report published by Reuters.

CEO Emma Walmsley told reporters that it will look at acquisitions to boost its consumer health business, however, its prescription drugs division is the ‘top priority’.

“We would look at these assets and really look at them carefully in terms of their complementarity… but it is a question of looking at them and making sure we stay focused on returns,” said Walmsley.

Pfizer and Merck are both said to be exiting the consumer health game, with Reckitt Benckiser, P&G and Nestle all named as potential bidders.
