THE WHAT? Amazon has partnered with major household brands, including Unilever, L’Oréal, Colgate-Palmolive, and Beiersdorf, to deliver over 250,000 products to families in need. From January 6 to January 28, for every two purchases made on Amazon.co.uk from a selection of over 800 personal hygiene, household, and baby products, Amazon will donate a third item to The Multibank charity.
THE DETAILS The campaign aims to address hygiene poverty, a growing issue highlighted by a recent Hygiene Bank survey revealing that teachers spend £40 million annually out of their own pockets to support children affected by hygiene issues. Participating brands include Amazon’s own-label lines like Mama Bear, alongside Dove, Colgate, Garnier, Nivea, and others.
Logistics for the initiative are supported by Palletline, which is providing free storage and distribution to The Multibank charity’s regional hubs. The Multibank initiative, co-founded by former Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Amazon, works to distribute essential items to families struggling with hygiene poverty.
THE WHY? Hygiene poverty is an often-overlooked issue that significantly impacts school attendance and personal dignity. Amazon’s campaign, in collaboration with suppliers and its customers, not only raises awareness but also drives tangible support to address this critical problem. The initiative exemplifies how public-private partnerships can mobilize resources for social good, leveraging brand power and logistics expertise to deliver meaningful impact.
