L’Oréal Luxe announces leadership changes

THE WHAT? L’Oréal Luxe has announced that Cheryl Vitali, Global President of skin care brand Kiehl’s, is to take on the newly created role of Global President of L’Oréal’s portfolio of American luxury brands – Urban Decay, It Cosmetics, Clarisonic, and Kiehl’s.

THE DETAILS Succeeding Vitali as Global President of Kiehl’s is Leonardo Chavez, who is stepping up from his role as Global Brand President for Maybelline New York.

“Cheryl’s legacy on Kiehl’s, the business and the teams is simply remarkable. And her impact as a leader and innovator of a distinct ‘indie brand’ philosophy has been major,” said Cyril Chapuy, Global President, L’Oréal Luxe. “In the name of the division, I want to sincerely thank and congratulate Cheryl.”

Added Vitali, “Leonardo is a visionary, experienced global leader who will bring his intelligence, intensity and creativity to Kiehl’s. His beauty industry savvy and global knowledge will benefit Kiehl’s greatly as it continues its dramatic growth pace around the world.”

THE WHY? Having grown Kiehl’s from a little-known Indie brand into a leading global brand, it’s hoped that Vitali will sprinkle some of her magic onto the group’s American luxury brand portfolio.
