THE WHAT? Dubai Duty Free has announced it is to celebrate its 37th anniversary by offering a 25 percent discount over the course of three days, from 18th-20th December, according to a report by TR Business.
THE DETAILS Available to all departing, transiting and incoming passengers at Dubai International Airport, the discount will start at midnight on 17th December, and will include the company’s home delivery service.
The promotion includes cosmetics and perfumes, however, excludes some fashion brands.
Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman & CEO of Dubai Duty Free, said: “The DDF anniversary promotion is traditionally a highly-anticipated event with travellers choosing to travel on the days when the 25% discount is offered.
“While shopping with us may look a little different right now, we are as committed as ever to marking this anniversary celebration and to thank our customers, whether in person or online, for shopping with us.”
THE WHY? The travel retail industry has been one of the hardest hit during the pandemic, with global travel all but drying up completely. And with global lockdowns across the world continuing to be introduced as cases rise, short-term discount events will do little to revive the battered industry.
