THE WHAT? Lotte Duty Free has closed a store located in Gimpo International Airport, according to a report published by The Korea Herald, and reduced opening hours for stores in the city centre.
THE DETAILS The closure is temporary, says Lotte, but a date has not been set for the reopening – that will depend, the travel retailer operator said per The Korea Herald, on the resumption of flights.
Downtown stores will now operate on a limited timetable (9.30 am to 5.40pm).
THE WHY? The travel retail operator cited low passenger numbers as the reason behind the temporary closure. In a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus, many routes have been suspended and the number of flights has dropped dramatically.
