THE WHAT? Lotte Duty Free is set to debut a ‘travel sitcom’ this week featuring K-pop stars BTS, according to a report published by Meaww.
THE DETAILS Friends must fly out, as the commercial shot in sitcom format has been named, will make its debut on September 9 in Lotte Cinemas, followed by an international roll out on September 16th via the travel retail operators social media platforms.
THE WHY? The release is the culmination of Lotte’s new marketing mission to champion K-culture and lure back tourists. According to a statement posted on the company’s website, “Ever since Lotte Duty Free introduced marketing strategies related to Korean Wave celebrities, it has led Entertourment Marketing, combining tourism and entertainment. Lotte Duty Free will continue to serve as an ambassador of K-culture which takes the lead in promoting Korean culture and revitalizing the tourism industry.”
