Sephora enters duty free with cruise ship deal

THE WHAT? Sephora has teamed up with Starboard Cruise Services to sell its private label range on board cruise ships, according to a report published by Cruise Critic.

THE DETAILS The Sephora Collection will be available in duty free shops on several of Starboard Cruise Services’ partner ships, including Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas and Carnival Horizon.

The range includes make-up and tools as well as skin care and will be displayed in a standalone branded kiosk to encourage trial.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Sephora, a global beauty industry leader, and look forward to providing guests with even more beautiful possibilities onboard,” Lisa Bauer, Starboard President and CEO told Cruise Critic.

THE WHY? With both companies owned by LVMH, the deal makes sense, not to mention the fact that sales in the travel retail channel are booming.
