THE WHAT? Alibaba-owned Tmall has launched an intellectual property trading property, dubbed IPmart, designed to help China’s emerging creators find business opportunities, according to a report published by WWD.
THE DETAILS The platform comprises IP Copyright Center, IP Contract Center, IP Eco Alliance and IP Operation Center and will provide merchants with an array of tools including product development, licensing, marketing and IP selection.
IPmart will be equipped with Ant Group’s blockchain technology in a bid to up trust and prevent counterfeit issues.
THE WHY? WWD reports that the platform will enable the Chinese e-commerce behemoth to move up the value chain and gain a bigger role in the fashion and lifestyle collaboration market.
