THE WHAT? Dermatologist Alicia Zalka has announced the launch of the inaugural product under her Surface Deep brand – a ‘clean’ deodorant.

THE DETAILS Surface Deep Anti-Odorant is described as a ‘glycolic acid-powered’ deodorant said to prevent body odor from forming.

The product claims to have reimagined the fight against odor, and consequently has coined a new term, ‘anti-odorize’. Billed as safe and microbiome-friendly, the pack comprises 30 individually-wrapped, biodegradable cleansing pads.

THE WHY? With safety concerns surrounding aluminium content in anti-perspirants, this clean alternative chimes with the wider trend towards natural deodorants. No wonder Zalka is said to be planning further launches under the brand, including new AHA-based products.
