THE WHAT? Saipem has announced the acquisition of a proprietary technology for CO2 capture from CO2 Solutions Inc (CSI).

THE DETAILS The Italian firm has also snapped up the Canadian company’s extensive portfolio of intellectual property, including over 90 patents granted or pending and trademarks as well as its Quebec-based CO2 capture plant.

THE WHY? Maurizio Coratelle, COO at Saipem revealed that the acquisition formed part of Saipem’s ambition to be an enable of the energy transition for its clients. “The assets and technology purchased will help us to expand our green products portfolio and will underpin our resolve to support the industry towards a low carbon energy future,” he said.
